Two younger stewardship volunteers help restore Minneapolis's first park.
Many families make FMR events a part of their quality outdoor time together. Often, they return to the same site, participating in different types of restoration activities and enjoying the beneficial changes they've helped produce throughout the year. This brother and sister are part of a family that has been helping to restore Riverside Park for several seasons. After removing invasive species at a previous event, they returned to plant native species in their place a few months later. Here, the siblings soak newspapers to lay down as a weed barrier that will then be covered in mulch around young native plantings.
Final details are still being set for FMR's 2012 volunteer event schedule. To receive notices of events in your inbox, plus important river updates, sign up for Mississippi Messages in the periwinkle box to the right.
