Public Meetings about next steps for the Minneapolis Riverfront Design Competition

Following up from the whirlwind Riverfront Design Competition that ended in February, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is moving ahead with the next phase — planning a project for implementation.Renamed as the Minneapolis Riverfront Development Initiative or MRDI, a series of meetings are being held next week to engage the community and kick off the project.

The MRDI includes putting together a steering committee of civic and business leaders, a technical advisory committee and a community advisory committee, all of which are meeting next week, and they are hosting three workshops for the public. The winning design team TLS/KVA will be in town for the meetings, and the team will engage the community in delving deeper into their winning plan, entitled "RiverFirst." There will also be an opportunity for questions and community feedback.

FMR is participating on the Advisory Committee, and we encourage other interested organizations to get involved. The public meetings, all to be held at MPRB headquarters (2117 West River Road North, Minneapolis), are at the following times:

  • April 28, 7:00 – 9:00 pm
  • April 29, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
  • April 30, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
