FMR adopts resolution in opposition to Minnesota Marriage Amendment

Friends of the Mississippi River (FMR) is proud to announce that at its meeting on July 18, the Board of Directors adopted this resolution in opposition to the proposed Minnesota Marriage Amendment. FMR joins a growing coalition of nonprofit organizations, businesses, religious institutions and individuals who have formally stated their opposition to the proposed amendment.

We believe it is important that civic institutions not remain silent on fundamental issues of human rights and equality said FMR Board Chair Perry McGowan. We are also concerned that, if approved, this amendment would impair the organizations ability to attract and retain top quality employees and is wholly inconsistent with our commitment to nondiscrimination he said.
