The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is holding a public information meeting about rulemaking for the Mississippi River Corridor Critical Area. The meeting will be held in an open house format. Interested parties are invited to stop by to learn about the rulemaking effort and provide feedback on draft districts and standards.

Meeting details:

  • Wednesday, September 29, 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
    Schaar's Bluff Gathering Center
    Spring Lake Park Reserve
    8395 127th Street East
    Hastings, MN 55033 [ MAP ]

Suggested talking points for the meeting:

  • Only strong and robust rules will ensure a healthy future for our Mississippi River Corridor and National Park.
  • The rules need to maintain or enhance protections of key ecological, scenic, cultural and recreational resources of the Mississippi River Corridor.
  • The rules must help protect and expand riverfront parks, open space and undeveloped natural areas.

Over the summer, a group of folks — made up mostly of riverfront residents from northern cities in the corridor — has begun organizing themselves around their shared opposition to new rules.

It is very important for those who want strong rules to attend and make sure our voices are heard.

Please consider participating and lending your voice in support of rules that will protect and enhance the many special features of the Mississippi River in the Twin Cities region.
