Whose view? From where? — December 2014

Joel Stiras, a fisheries specialist with the Department of Natural Resources, was the only one to correctly identify where last months photo was taken from. He responded, The picture this month I believe is taken on the west bank of Pool 2 of the Mississippi River, on the east side of Kaposia Landing, a park in South St. Paul. That site used to be called Port Crosby and was a demolition landfill. Across the river from that park is the outlet for the Pigs Eye Waste Water Treatment Plant and just upstream to the left is Holman Field. I have an acoustic receiver deployed very close to this location that is listening for fish with transmitters.

Thanks for providing so much detail, Joel!

About Whose view? From where?

Each month in this section, we feature a photo somewhere along the river corridor in the Twin Cities that is in some way significant or important or just plain scenic. Individuals may then e-mail us and identify the view and explain why they believe it is significant to the community or important to them personally. We'll publish some of your responses in the next issue of Mississippi Messages, where we will also reveal the correct answer.
