Whose view? From where? — January 2015

Last months photo was a beautiful winter shot of the Hastings Sand Coulee Scientific and Natural Area taken by FMRs senior ecologist Karen Schik. Its not actually on the River, but it provides important native habitat along one of the many greenways that connect with the main stem of the Mississippi River.

FMR worked with the DNR, the city of Hastings and local landowners to help protect this special site, and we have engaged hundreds of volunteers and students in learning about and restoring wildlife habitat to the Sand Coulee.

About Whose view? From where?

Each month in this section, we feature a photo somewhere along the river corridor in the Twin Cities that is in some way significant or important or just plain scenic. Individuals may then email us and identify the view and explain why they believe it is significant to the community or important to them personally. We'll publish some of your responses in the next issue of Mississippi Messages, where we will also reveal the correct answer.
