The Mississippi River Challenge raises funds and awareness for a cleaner, healthier river — and it's just a great time. (Photos by Matt Holland for FMR)

This year, the Mississippi River Challenge will take paddlers on a new route, spending the first day on the Minnesota River and the second on the Mississippi River!

Paddlers:
• Choose from a half-, one- or two-day paddle
• Experience up close the beauty and power of Minnesota's two greatest rivers
• View wildlife and enocounter new natural areas in the heart of the urban area
• Enjoy great food and live music, including the Roe Family Singers at Historic Fort Snelling
• Learn about river history, culture and ecology

Join the Riverfront Support Crew!

Our volunteer shifts are currently full, but we would love to put you on our waiting list as shifts sometimes open up last-minute!  Read on for more information...

Riverfront Support Crew volunteers work with FMR staff handling boats, refreshments, first-aid and more. Volunteers are critical — it takes over 200 to make this event happen, at 10 riverfront locations! You can sign up for three hours, or 30. Let us know your availability and preferences and we'll design a weekend schedule that fits your needs and interests. All volunteers receive a t-shirt and food, but those who sign up for two or more Support Crew shifts are also invited to join the party at Historic Fort Snelling, normally $20-$25, on us!

Let us know you're interested via the Riverfront Support Crew volunteer form!

UPDATE from Volunteer Coordinator Katie Clower: All of our volunteer shifts are now full!  If you would like to be put on a waiting list to volunteer at the MRC, please submit the online volunteer form above and let us know your interests and availability for the weekend; we will let you know if any spots open up!

We are still looking for a few more First-Aid Certified volunteers, to help at various times and locations on Sunday July 29th.  Please sign up online or contact Katie Clower at kclower@fmr.org if you are interested in filling one of these important shifts.

Thanks,  - Katie
