Vermillion Watershed: Open Season

Vermillion Stewards are a dedicated group of volunteers participating in hands-on stewardship and educational programs throughout the unique Vermillion River watershed.

In the last 3 years, hundreds of people have committed thousands of hours to stewardship and educational events.

This year’s events will include:

  • Landscaping for Water Quality and Raingarden Workshops
  • A Spring Birding Hike
  • Exotic Species Removal
  • Prairie Seed Collections
  • Watershed-Wide Clean Up Event
  • Prairie Ecology Hike
  • Prairie Plantings

Keep an eye on our events calendar or subscribe to Mississippi Messages, our e-mail newsletter, to learn about upcoming events. Or read on to see how you can get more involved in the Vermillion Stewards.

The Vermillion Stewards program is a great way to get involved with the community and meet new people while actively helping to protect the Vermillion River as an asset and amenity to the area in which you live. All programs are free and open to the public. For more information or to get involved, contact:
