Duties: Connecting people interested in volunteering with the just-right events and opportunities, promoting events, registering volunteers, appreciating volunteers, and assisting with intern recruitment and selection

FMR accomplishment most proud of: “It may sound a little trite, but I really see myself as more of a catalyst. And taking advantage of folks’ desire to get out there and do good for the river, well, it doesn’t seem proper to be proud.”

Hobbies: Working on a St. Paul West Side fixer-upper on the bluff. “I especially love productive destruction, ripping down walls, pulling up linoleum, digging for a new patio.”

Last book she read that she really loved: The Troll Garden by Willa Cather

Favorite music/bands: REM’s Life’s Rich Pageant.

Favorite location on the river: For a short trip, “the dock you’re not supposed to sit on by The Minnesota Boat Club on Raspberry Island.” For a longer trip, the overlook at Pine Bend Scientific and Natural Area.

Last big vacation: Puerto Rico, January 2007, where she spent most of the time on the island of Culebra. “The fish and coral were so beautiful that I ended up snorkeling for hours upon hours in probably 30 feet of water in the coral reef.”

Conservation/environmental hero: Woodsy the Owl
