Garlic Mustard Pull in the Oak Savanna and River Flats

Help remove garlic mustard from the river flats and the oak savanna in the Longfellow neighborhood in the Minneapolis River Gorge. Garlic mustard is an herbaceous exotic plant invading many River Gorge areas and out-competing native spring plant species. While extremely invasive, this plant is very easy to identify and pull by hand.

Volunteers will receive brief training in identification and removal methods at the meeting location, and then work to remove garlic mustard near the river flats (between East 34th & 35th Streets) and oak savanna (near East 36th Street).

Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing for hiking down trails and working in a wooded area. Children are welcome with parents or guardians. Bags and gloves will be provided.
