New podcast features FMR ecologist and invasive earthworms

The Wandering Naturalist podcast featured FMR ecologist Alex Roth in May. In June, the featured topic is water — from water quality to water sports. (Image from Three Rivers Park District.)

Are you a nature enthusiast? Or just curious to learn more about Minnesota's natural world? It can be hard to find fun, easily digestible content about Minnesota's ecology (other than here on our Conservation Corner, of course). This year, Three Rivers Park District staff debuted a short-form podcast to discuss topics ranging from owl tracking to maple syruping.

In the episode below, FMR ecologist Alex Roth joined Three Rivers staff to discuss the effects of buckthorn and earthworms on Minnesota's spring ephemeral plant community, and how you can help native species at home and throughout Minnesota. Check out this 24-minute May episode here.

To learn more about some of the effects of non-native earthworms in Minnesota's forests, check out our post about invasive earthworms.
