Working to protect the Mississippi River and its watershed in the Twin Cities area
The Bridges of Saint Paul is a mega-development that has been proposed for construction on Saint Paul’s West Side. As proposed, it is a poor fit for the character of the West Side and contravenes neighborhood and city plans. Learn more about the proposal and, if you’re a resident of Saint Paul, make your voice heard at our Bridges of Saint Paul pages.
Friends of the Mississippi River is currently working to encourage a thoughtful, historically-sensitive alternative to a football stadium that DeLaSalle High School has proposed for Nicollet Island in Minneapolis. We have been advocating for the consideration of alternative sites, but DeLaSalle won’t budge until the city turns them down. Find out more, and if you’re a Minneapolis resident, contact your Minneapolis City Council member and Mayor Rybak to ensure that alternative options are seriously explored. Read up on the issue and find all you need to take action at our Nicollet Island Stadium project page. Or jump straight to the action section.
