Working to protect the Mississippi River and its watershed in the Twin Cities area
At this year's Izaak Walton League-Bush Lake Chapter annual corn roast, the presentation will be "Update on Upper Mississippi River Restoration," by Brad Walker, Upper Mississippi River Coordinator of the Izaak Walton League of America.
Mr. Walker will discuss the general condition of the river environment, with a bit of a history and background refresher, as well as the benefits of a large-scale restoration effort. Also included will be an update of the Corps’ lock expansion and ecosystem restoration project, known as the Navigation and Ecological Sustainability Program or NESP.
The presentation begins at 5 p.m. and the corn roast begins at 4:30 p.m. Corn roast guests are being asked to bring something to grill and/or a dish to pass. The League will provide roasted corn, butter, hot grill, cold water, and condiments.
